Grandma, the Girls and I set out for Penn. in the early morning hours. I slept most of the way. It was great. It doesnt take long to get there when you can sleep most of the time. The girls watched Cinderella and Dumbo. Staying at Great Granma's house was a chore to keep the girls from touching everything. Especially the little one. She did finally end up breaking a snow globe. Sorry Great Grandma. She was very gracious about it breaking. There were nick nacks everywhere for the girls to get into.

We went to Margie's house. We got to see Camlins beautiful baby and their home they had been working on. They did a great job with their home and the baby. The baby is so cute and Camlin is a natural at being a Mom.
The girls got to meet Gavin and play with him. They really liked it at Aunt Margies. She had lots of toys and made great desserts.

We took Great Grandma and the girls for pictures at Walmart where we saw Aunt Jean at work. She was able to take her break with us and unfortunately that is all the time we got to spend with her. The girls really liked her especially because she got them an ice cream cone from McDonalds.

We went back up to Margies after having lunch with Ginny Kay and Great Grandma.
Through out all of the visiting we did a little shopping for clothes for our three year old. She gave us a fashion show one morning.
One night I was giving the girls a bath at Great Grandmas house and the oldest girl was done so she was behind me while the one year old was finishing her bath. I had my shirt off because I always get soaked. And my three year old unhooked the first two hooks of my bra and couldnt get the last two. She said "Man! I dont know how you were one of these every day!" It was very cute.

The girls and I pakced up the car and drove out to my friend Michelle's house in Fort Wayne, Indiana. We were room mates in College and great friends. She has 4 girls of her own. They were all great. My girls loved hanging out at her house and with her kids. We went to the park and got Starbucks. Just having our kids hang out and play together was fun. Once the girls would go to sleep we would talk and talk and talk. We had a great time. I sure wish we lived closer.

The girls and I headed south to Indianapolis, Indiana to see my brother and for the girls to meet their cousins. He has four boys. The last time they saw each other our three year old was 3 months old. My girls took to their boys very quickly especially since they had dogs and cats. They have two very cool cats and two very cool dogs.
They had just gotten a rat terrier puppy a few weeks ago and it was so cute and tiny. The girls loved picking him up and carring him around. The other dog is also a rat terrier but a bigger version, his name was Ottis. They liked him too. He slept with our three year old the last night we were there and she loved it.
The first night we were there we had a camp fire, roasted marshmellows and camped out with uncle Jeff and Mark. Until I woke up in the middle of the night and notice Uncle Jeff had ditched us. Then Mark was soon gone too. Their air mattress had deflated. We had lots of fun.
The next day the girls spent lots of time on the trampoline which they loved and Uncle Jeff gave them a ride on the lawn mower. They liked that too. It is was a great visit. The girls loved their cousins and didnt want to leave. They said, after we had been driving for a while that they missed them.
We left Indianpolis about 5:30am and got to our home at 8:00pm. It was 788miles. Not too bad but a very long day with too girls. However they were so tired from playing with "those boys" which is what our three year old called them. They slept most of the way home and we didnt even get out the dvd player.

Our return home. Asa had been living by himself for 10 days. YIKES! I was back to culture shock again. He forgot to go to the dump with the trash. He had made Grandmas room his gun cleaning/animal stalking room. He also put up another goat area for Happy Birthday which she got out of today. He purchased 5 buck purbred Boer goats. Which our three year old had two of them named before she even saw them. One is Silly Billy and the other is Jelly Belly.
Tuesday September 19, 2006
I was still in shock today. Asa keeps asking me if I am ok. You forget how dirty the house is when you leave and when you are here for a while it all blends together so you dont notice it. It is much easier if you never leave or if you just stay away. I tried to clean up today but every step forward was two steps back. For example bringing in the diaper bag should have been easy until the dog with his muddy feet jumped in the front seat walked all over it and then went to the passenger seat and back to the drivers seat before I could get him out of the vehicle. Our one year old throwing toys out of the basket quicker than I can pick them up to sweep.
They were blasting and digging the trenches for the water lines. That is good news. We should have City water by Spring. Yeah.

MONDAY September 4, 2006
We have a shower! Yeah! We also have a washing machine! Yippie! It only took a couple of weeks but the shower is working great. We can even shower and flush the toilet at the same time. We can also shower and run a load of clothes. However, we havent been so adventurous as to run whites in the laundry machine. We are afraid they will come out a little yellow. But it is so nice to be able to run the bulk of our clothes at home and hang them on the line. Hurray! And to be able to take a shower in our own home it is fabulous. Grandma sprung for the curved shower curtain rod. It is worth every penny. We love it. Our shower is so much better now than when we moved in. It is all new and with the bent shower curtain rod it is great. I love not having to fight with the curtain sticking to me.
Asa also finished the pen for the goat so she is banned to it. We no longer have live entertainment on the porch. We miss her being there and she definately miss us. She is very lonely in her pen. We tried this last few days to get her a friend but it didnt work out. However, not having her on the porch also means no poop every where. Those goat pellet poops go everywhere. I think her favorite place to poop was on the porch. So Happy Birthday is in her pen and tonight with the full moon we heard the Coyotes howling. They were very close. So Close we were worried for Happy Birthday's safety so we sent Asa outside to check on her and to look to see if he could see any coyotes. She was ok but they are close.
Since the pen is finish and it seems to be containing her ok, we are ready to get a heard of goats. Yeah! we spent the last two days trying to find someone who has the goats we want for sale. But the ones that were close enough only had bucks right now. There are a few sales coming up we are going to try. Asa just needs to finish the chicken coop and we will be set.
Our three year old started preschool this week and really likes it. She came home the first day and was very tired. However she wouldnt take a nap and her behavior was extremely irritating. Thankfully today after preschool she took a nap and was much better. She is making some friends and she really likes interacting with the other kids.

SATURDAY September 2, 2006
Grandpap, the Girls and I went to the Transfer Station ( the dump) to get rid of trash. We had an entire car load. It had been few days since we had gone, plus we had the old carpet and pads we had ripped out upstairs. I gave Grandpap a quick tour of Alexandria Bay. Every time he has arrived for the weekend he has been slaving away and hasnt had any time for fun, except for with the Girls.
Grandma went to the laundrymat and Asa went to work. It was a very low key day. We all worked on the house in some way. It had also rained on and off most of the day. Grandma on the way home from the Laundrymat saw a car parked on the road that runs along our fields, so she pulled up behind and saw two people hop from the back seat of the car quickly to the front seat. She said the woman didnt even look back and she looked embarassed. I believe there was some flashing of nudity but Grandma was so surprised she couldnt be sure except they were caught doing something and they were out of there with out looking back.
Woody is becoming a canible. I have told everyone about the chickens now he is chewing on Happy Birthdays legs. He has her all raw on her front right leg. He tries to play with her and just gets too rough. He bites at her legs trying to get her to run so he can chase her but in the mean time he has her leg all torn up. He is now being penalized an has to be tied up so that he cant get to the goat.

FRIDAY September 1, 2006
Hunting Season! Unfortunately for Asa the were also notified. But great for us so we dont have to eat them. Asa went out by the pond before sunrise and set up his decoys and waiting until midmorning before returning to the house empty handed. Geese he had seen for weeks didnt show this morning. He was bummed. But he and Woody got to bond in the field. He has also gone out a few more times but no luck. The geese are teasing him because he can see them in the neighbors field but they wont fly over ours. At least when he is out there.
Grandpap arrived. Asa, Cheryl and the girls went to pick him up in Watertown. I was thrilled. I got several hours of alone time. I was able to do what ever I wanted. I opted to snuggle up with a blanket and read a book while I drank my vanilla latte I had made for myself. It was a very rejuvenating experience.

We celebrated our 2 month anniversary at the Farm. In many ways it has gone so fast with so much to do. It has been overwhelming, trying but yet adventurous and fun all wrapped into one. At times it has also felt like we have been here for years. Colorado seems so far away as if it didnt exist. If we could sell our house it would seem even farther away. We have been so busy working we havent even tapped into a small fraction of things to do here in the summer.
Fall has come much earlier than we are used to. It really started in the beginning of August. We only had one or two hot days in August and the rest were beautiful with cool evenings. Everyday there is more and more leaves changing. The Farmers Alamanc forcasted the weather to be 20 degrees colder this winter. We are nervous and excited for winter. How cold is cold? Everyone tells us it gets cold here, but how cold is cold? The record is -45 degrees F. Asa and I think it will be alot like Anchorage but then the people here say it is colder than Alaska. I guess we will see.
